The traditional Arab, Sephardic, Italian and Greek music played during the appearances of this early Greek music ensemble has been reviewed by critics as “powerful, fervent, expressive, and compelling”. The intriguing and colourful narrative by the Ex Silentio ensemble is derived from dances, songs and instrumental pieces from the lands of the Mediterranean. Collected from medieval and early Renaissance sources, the ensemble's members create a colourful portrait of these ancient times, telling of characters from Greek mythology, mighty kings, noble knights and beautiful princesses. The program which the musician's perform so organically and naturally reveals the brilliance of the southern lands, dazzling for its beauty of different faiths and cultures. Here, the sensuality and joy of life are convincingly expressed through music.
