Lauda Jerusalem
A concert for children and families

Lux Musicae London (United Kingdom)

This family concert, brought to you by young early music ensemble Lux Musicae London, takes you on a musical and visual journey through the vibrant city of Jerusalem, without having to sit on an airplane for many hours!
With its special and flexible combination of historical instruments and tenor voice, the ensemble creates its own arrangements of musical pieces in praise of Jerusalem, revealing the city’s religious and folklore traditions, as well as the landmarks where this music was and still is being performed. The journey draws a colourful picture of Jerusalem‘s rich musical culture and explains the reasons why so many composers have been inspired by the city and dedicated music to it. The musical works will be combined with projected photos and short videos taken by theatre director Abraham Buckoke on his very recent travels and strolls through Jerusalem.
Did you know, for example, that the composer Salamone Rossi wrote an instrumental trio that is now hidden within the national anthem of Israel? Find out how it was done!
