The leader of the renowned Ensemble Organum, Marcel Pérès, is director of the prestigious CERIMM (European Centre for Research on the Performance of Mediaeval Music). He has an impressive record of diligent studies in the fields of organ, composition, church and mediaeval music, as well as a experience working in both Europe and overseas. He is an undisputed authority in the field of mediaeval vocal repertoire who has had a permanent influence on the perception of this music over recent decades. He holds the title of ‘Knight of the Order of the Arts and the Letters’, an order established by the French Ministry of Culture.
This year, Banchetto Musicale hosts its first international workshop with Marcel Pérès in Vilnius. During the course, participants will start to explore the art of the scansion of chant, beginning with the Notre-Dame School and exploring this route to the authentic rhythm of Gregorian Chant.
